Including 6 premium beauty essentials, this box will prepare you as we detox from 2018 and embrace 2019.

New Year, New Subscriptions? This year I wanted to try out some new beauty subscriptions, and Lookfantastic is one that I’ve been eyeing for quite some time. One of the main aspects that I like about Lookfantastic is that they include full-size items! In addition, you also receive the latest copy of Elle Magazine and LookFantastic’s very own Beauty Box Magazine, which is exclusive to subscribers. Within that magazine there are tips, tricks, and the latest in beauty trends. The items are packaged in a rather sturdy themed keep sake box which can be re-purposed for storage, gift boxes, decor, etc.

I love the clean theme of January’s Beauty Box, and thoroughly enjoyed every item that I received. I discovered several new brands, and for me that’s always a plus. I feel that this box has something for everyone, and I love that it focuses on wellness!

So without further ado, here is what I received in my January beauty box. Photowill be at the end of the post.

Total Value of January’s Beauty Box: $91.50

I’d never heard of Dr Paw Paw before receiving this, but I’ve really been enjoying using this product. So far I’ve only used it as a lip balm, but this product is labeled as multi-purpose. According to the brands website it can be used for Diaper Rash, Chapped Lips, Dryness, Sun Burn, Skin Irritations, Hair Conditioning Treatments, you name it. Whoa! The main ingredient is Papaya, which explains the brands name Paw Paw. But, there is also Aloe Vera and Olive Oil all packed into this 25ml tube. The size makes it perfect for on-the-go, and I can’t wait to see what all uses I’ll have for this product. The product is cruelty-free, vegan, and unscented. It’s not greasy, and definitely glides on smooth. The brand also has tinted balms for those who enjoy a hint of subtle color! If you’re a chap stick lover like me, then this will be right up your alley. I’d highly recommend getting yourself a tube of Dr Paw Paw. This is the type of product that I feel everyone can benefit from by adding it to their collection.

I personally don’t use hair serums enough to justify purchasing them. But, I’m excited to try out this serum by Swell. This is the ultimate protect and renew serum that’s good for concealing split ends, and providing heat protection. The reviews that I’ve seen on this product have all been positive, so I can’t wait to see what it does for my hair. It does have a faint scent to it that I can’t quite put my finger on, but it doesn’t appear to be too strong. That may change once it’s all over my head, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Now if you’re anything like me, then you know just how quick a hair tie can go missing! For that reason, I typically buy a pack of fairly cheap hair ties and keep it movin’! That way when they disappear, I’m not stressing over how much money disappeared right along with them. Before this beauty box, I’d never tried any Popband products but I have heard of the brand. These hair ties are so pretty, that I honestly don’t even want to use them. Popband states that their hair ties can also be worn as bracelets, and they come in a variety of various colors and prints. This isn’t an item that I would’ve purchased myself, but I’m glad that it was included in the beauty box. This particular set is an exclusive Lookfantasic design, and the color scheme mirrors the January Theme. Fingers crossed that these beauties don’t go missing!

In my opinion skincare is so important! Makeup is wonderful, but what’s underneath is just as important. I always find masks to be a quick, and convenient way to give your skin a little pampering. Plus, you can easily throw on a mask, and continue with whatever you were doing. This particular mask by the brand Vitamasques and has gold dust (so fancy), diamond powder, and pearl extract which is said to help brighten your skin! The package comes with one mask, and I can’t wait to try it out! I’m always a fan of skincare that moisturizes and brightens.

I was so excited to see a First Aid Beauty product in this beauty box! If you know me, then you’d know my love for FAB. I’ve been a massive fan, and supporter of the brand for awhile now and always love their products. The Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer is one of my all time favorites, and I was running low so the timing couldn’t be any better. I generally use this on my fresh face days, and sometimes as a moisturizer before applying my makeup. The scent is incredible, and I’d highly recommend giving this a try! It’s lightweight, and makes your skin look so healthy. If you’re into coconut scents, then you’d love this. You can select to receive a foil pack sample of this product with a First Aid Beauty purchase. That way, you can give it a go before buying! In my experience, I’ve been able to get two uses out of FAB’s sample packs. I’m a First Aid Beauty Affiliate, so if you’re thinking of picking up some goodies use this link or simply click on the First Aid Beauty Logo on my blog. I only stand behind brands that I believe in, and First Aid Beauty is so worth it!

Oh Banana Powder, you are very talked about. I’ll admit, it took me awhile to hop on the setting powder train! I suppose I just didn’t see the point? Though, with my Grade A oily skin I have learned to really appreciate a good setting powder! I’ve also learned which powders work best for my particular skin tone, and overall needs. I tend to stick with powders that have a slight brown hue to them, so that it blends well. I’ve just never thought that a yellow tinted powder would do anything for me, other than make me look a little crazy! However, against my better judgement I decided to do a wear test. This is the banana powder in the shade Original by the brand BellaPierre. This powder also comes in a medium shade, which would have probably worked a little better for me. As with most powders, this comes in a sift top container that controls the amount of product that is dispersed. I honestly did not enjoy this powder, and I looked super shiny all day long. Like an oily patchwork quilt, if you will. As I said, my skin is always oily but with the right products I can keep it to a minimum. There was absolutely no controlling the shine while wearing this. The biggest issue was that the powder oxidized horribly, and everywhere that it was applied looked orange and so patchy. My under eyes were horrific, and just overall is wasn’t a great experience for me. For now, I’ll stick with my Beauty Bakerie Flour Setting Powder!

And, that’s a wrap for this month. My box took it’s sweet time arriving, so that explains the delay in posting this! Hopefully it’ll arrive a little sooner next month. Can’t wait to see what items I receive in February’s Beauty Box!

Which subscription services are you currently receiving, or thinking about signing up for? I’m always on the hunt for another one to check out, so let me know! Anyone else receive Lookfantastic Beauty Boxes? If so, what was your favorite item(s) this month?
